Overview

Traveling soccer is a great environment for competitiveness and high-level skills training. Any players considering making the jump to a traveling team should be made aware of the following:

Traveling soccer can be more expensive than recreational soccer. It can incur costs from professional coaching, increased practice time and travel expenses.
Playing at a higher competition level raises the level of all players.
There is no guarantee of playing time. The best players play.
There is an increased chance for high-level development. Players looking to play in high school, college and beyond should seriously consider joining a traveling team.
You will be required to try out and will be placed on a team according to ability.
Rules are generally more closely related to high school and college soccer.

Tryouts

You will need to register for tryouts prior to attending. Registering gives us the information we need to contact you in case of a change in our schedule or any updates you need to know.

You may attend either or both tryout sessions. There is no cost to tryout for a team. There is no obligation to join a team if your son or daughter is invited to join.

The Jets travel soccer program was created to provide the youth of the Bedford and Franklin County areas with the opportunity to receive high level coaching, challenging training, unique opportunities and exceptional player development within the most competitive environments in order to prepare our players for high-level play beyond youth soccer. Additionally, it was and still is the mission of our club to deliver these services with the least amount of financial burden to our players and their families.

Travel soccer can be quite expensive; however it is our mission at Smith Mountain Lake Soccer Club to ensure that costs are not the prohibitive measure preventing a child from participating in the game we all love. Therefore we are not only forthright with the actual fees, but we attempt to keep them as affordable as possible.

Fees may also be broken up up into monthly payments. If a family is in need financial assistance we ask they please do not hesitate in letting us know. To assist those that share this need, we provide our families with fundraising opportunities as well as limited scholarships which are available and confidential. Everyone who comes to us for help is treated individually. Every family is different. They differ in how many members are at home, how many parents, income level, debt level, - we ask what can they afford and work from there.

The bottom line is when a child steps on the field, they are there to play a game and to be a part of a team. We are about giving kids who love playing soccer a chance to play at a higher level. Parents love us because we truly care for our kids.
