We are proud of the many Jets soccer players that traveled to Virginia Beach to attend the 2019 Sand Soccer competition as the SML Tsunamis! Both teams played against strong competition of teams who travel the coast and compete in these tournaments. For out teams its the 1 time a year they will get to play on the sand competitively. 

The U14 team coached by Todd Ohlerich was on their 3rd visit to the competition as the U10 team coached by Ben Brown and Robert Morck was making the journey for the first time.  

Many of the U10 players had never played on the sand prior to this tournament and the sand at Smith Mountain Lake differs so greatly it didn't give much opportunity for practices before arriving on the beaches that morning. Even with little practice both teams played very well and most importantly had fun. 

The event was such a hit the players and parents are looking forward to the event again next year along with many who didn't have the opportunity to attend. We look forward to the 2020 North American Sand Soccer Championship!
